Wal Khumalo is a sophomore at Harvard University, born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is currently pursuing a BA in Environmental Science and her interests exist in Sustainable Development and the building of Resilient Cities worldwide. Her passion for human and environmental rights has evolved since childhood as she has worked with the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) since Grade 10. She has contributed to HABITAT III, Paris Agreement and Youth Forum policies both at the South African and international level. Today she serves as SAIIA’s Youth Ambassador to the United Nations, where she negotiates on issues of gender inequality, urban resilience and youth involvement in international policy-making.
